Rookie guard Gaines has another 10 days to show his value to Jazz

For hitting a key shot in the Utah Jazz’s 97-96 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, rookie guard Sundiata Gaines earned himself another 10-day contract with the Jazz, who has gone 4-1 since signing Gaines a 10-day contract last week.

Gaines had his first 3-pointer since putting on NBA jersey as a professional basketball player on Thursday night and that shot successfully beat the buzzer and lifted the previously 21-17 Jazz over the 30-10 Cavaliers. It also appeared to be a good sign for the rookie’s career.

Only playing five totally NBA games, the 6-foot-1 guard out of Georgia is averaging 4.2 points and 1.4 assists with the Jazz, having 9 points in Thursday night’s game, and there are still large space for him to improve as he was averaging 23.9 points in 14 games with the NBA D-League’s Idaho Stampede before signing with the Jazz.
