Colts have plan of playing Super Bowl without DE Freeney

As many fans are still wondering whether the Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney will put on his Colts jersey to play this Sunday’s Super Bowl game against the New Orleans Saints, the Colts have already been preparing for a playoff without Freeney.

According to Colts Coach Jim Caldwell, the Colts remain hopeful that the All-Pro defensive end will be fine enough to play the game in time, but they are already working on a rotation in case Freeney cannot play. After all the sprained right ankle has kept him out of practice for most of last week and it is really questionable for him to recover fully from the injury by game time. Even if he is able to play, there are still concerns about how effective he could be.

They remain hopeful because Freeney has history of healing fast- he returned seven days after hurting his quadriceps in late September, and the Colts really need his incredible speed, remarkable spin moves and leverage to attack opponents.
